As of the 1st April 2010 any VAT-registered traders with a turnover of £100,000 or more, plus any newly registered traders (regardless of turnover), must submit their returns online and pay electronically.
As of the 1st August 2010 the lead in time for sending in you green VAT 100 expired.
This means you no longer will receive a green VAT100 form quarterly and you will have to process your VAT online.
The way in which you pay can be done in many forms as explained in the attached PDF.
For some person who might not be online and could find it difficult to file their VAT online. This can be done by your accountant or bookkeeper as your agent. Also you can still pay by cheque or cash through the bank but give yourself enough bank working day for the funds to clear with HMRC (3 working days) as needs to be cleared by the last date of the following month in which the VAT is being calculated. You will need to order the pay in books through HMRC the details are in the attached PDF.
